hey Moose, wanted to let you know because it's important for me to let you know you might not think it a big deal, but I changed my stance on cussing i thought it was okay to cuss because i thought it was appropriate for the tragedies we saw happen to people on the job and i would cuss outside the duty as well just because life sucks but i have come to realization that it is not fitting with a Christian worldview. i thought cussing was appropriate to describe living in a fallen world, and interacting with all the profane, defiled, and ugly things, and effects of sin people suffer with. But I found that cussing means that you feel strongly enough about something to express your angst/anger/disappointment, so at a lot of the times, I found myself feeling strongly about things that are not worth feeling anything about. They are just not worth giving attention to. So should I continue to consider worthless things something worth the effort of interacting with? I decided not.
Also, I found that feeling strongly about everything and anything would detract from feeling in any meaningful way the few things that actually do matter. And at the same time, I found that cussing was not at all a helpful or meaningful way to express your emotion. There is a better way to harness your emotional energy that is helpful to others, and in a more meaningful way to God. Finally, I found that cussing is a sign of great agitation and angst regarding the affairs of life, and it was unbecoming of a Christian whose Father is God who predetermines, orchestrates, and controls and plans out every detail of human history, for His own honour and for the Christians' well-being. So is it at all appropriate for a Christian who belongs to "heavenly mafia" to be at all agitated by evil and wickedness of men and the effects of sin in life, when he/she knows that their Father is God of vengeance, jealousy and wrath, and God of wisdom, power, and love? I decided it was not. Comments are closed.
