This is the sad story of a man called Bob the Heretic.
Bob finds the Bible, the word of the true God, to be foolishness and a stumbling block, because he has not been given faith to believe. His allegiance therefore is to himself due to his inflated view of his own wisdom. He has no desire to honestly study God’s word in order to know who He is, what He is like, and what He has done. Love for God, obedience, worship, reverence, selfless allegiance to God’s Lordship are all words that are not in his vocabulary. He loves too much his lustful pleasures, and his own god who permits him to do everything he desires — himself. And when he reads about the true God’s judgment against sin and His invitation to find forgiveness and pursue holiness, his brain’s self-idolatrous creed is to not only not believe Him (for to believe is to submit), but also to despise the holy God.

9/24/2022 0 Comments Reason for Art and CreativityAs a renown film director once mused, as a visual arts creator, you have access to people’s minds for a certain period of time. You hope to entertain and wow them, but more importantly, you want to leave them with a lasting, psychological "pebble in their shoe" for their brain. Thus, entertainment is a kind of the Trojan horse. You want to tell compelling stories and ideas that they otherwise could not have come up with and thought about themselves. If your communication is captivating enough to hold the attention of your audience, then you will have succeeded in accessing their minds and filling their thoughts toward the truth. It is to this purpose that Christian artists hope to awe people with visually stunning work.
7/20/2022 0 Comments Battling our temptation1 Dear brothers, I humbly present this post for your courage and support.
I find that I am most susceptible to temptation when I am discouraged. And I am discouraged when I lose sight of the nobler and greater purpose of imitating Christ and become distracted by a seemingly unfair "game over" life event in a fallen world. And my discouragement is caused by just that; it is caused by my confusion in my moral conscience whose job is to constantly sift through things and tell me what (or better, who) is most valuable. I propose that there is a right way and a wrong way to speak in regard to sexual immorality from the pulpit.
Our church is currently going through the book of Exodus. When we arrived at Exodus 21:16, "Now one who kidnaps someone, whether he sells him or he is found in his possession, shall certainly be put to death." In this passage, our pastor spoke about the sex trafficking and its close involvement in the pornography behemoth industry, and how the watching of pornography is participating in its guilt and having in one's own possession. There is a way to encourage the believers in regard to sexual purity: by handling the matter with dignity, gravitas and seriousness. And I believe the pastor addressed the issue of sexual immorality in this manner. He preached about sexual purity legitimately in the course of an expository preaching of a verse. 7/19/2022 0 Comments Making sense of exorcismMongoose:
I need desperate help and prayers. If anyone has advice or is guided by the holy spirit to help my family. Our three year old son is being tormented by the demon beezelbub. We have heard him say the name when he is going crazy. Last night while praying over him his eyes rolled into the back of his head. I just kept praying and finally got my son back. I thought it was over but it showed back up. We are a faithful family but something is bringing this into my home. Any advice and prayers is appreciated. Thanks and God bless. |
